Charles “Chick” Davies

Chick Davies was one of the winningest coaches in college basketball history at the time of his death in 1985. From 1924-1948 he led the Duquesne Dukes to a 314-106 record. They were among the most respected teams in the college game.

Davies saw Kenny Sailors twice vs. his team. Both games were when Wyoming went to Pittsburgh on the Cowboys’ annual Christmas/New Year’s holiday tour of the East. He likely saw Kenny vs. other teams, as well.

It’s high praise what Davies had to say about Kenny’s play-making skills, especially his dribbling which you can read in the following clip following the 1942-43 season.
