Valparaiso Toppled, 51-49, as Kenny Sailors Racks Up 17 Points to Lead Cowboys

Gary, Ind., Jan 7 - (UP) -

The powerful University of Wyoming Cowboys won their 10th game of the season tonight by eking out a 51 to 49 triumph over Valparaiso University before an overflow crowd of 5,000 spectators here tonight.

After Valapraiso tied the score in the last half, the Cowboys took a two-point lead and stalled the last two minutes of the game to mark up their second victory over the Crusaders.

John Janisch of Valparaiso took scoring honors with 20 points. He was followed by Kenny Sailors of Wyoming with 17.

It was the fifth defeat of the season for Valparaiso's veteran team.

The victorious Cowboys now will return home, after winning all their games on the eastern jaunt.

The Cowboys downed the University of Washington Saturday night by pouring on the heat in the final half of the contest at St. Louis. The final score was 40 to 39 for the Cowboys.

Next appearance of the towering Cowpokes will be this Saturday night against the University of Utah. The contest will be at Laramie and will be the initial Big Seven conference tilt for the University of Wyoming.
