Kenny Sailors attended Laramie High School in Laramie, Wyoming. He graduated in 1939 and enrolled at the University of Wyoming that fall.

Laramie teams were called “The Plainsmen” at that time and still are.

While in high school Kenny participated in football, basketball and track and field. He says these were the only sports available. He starred in them all, but basketball was the sport in which eventually he became nationally well-known as a college and AAU All-American and as a professional.
